At Just The Right Time
You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. Romans 5:6
How many times have we waited until the last possible moment to admit defeat? God is patient. And He’s a gentleman. He will not enter unless He’s invited. So many times we resist admitting that we are defeated. Our nature is to try to make everything work out the way we want it to work out. The last thing any of us want to do is admit that something is bigger than we are.
Whatever we feed grows. If we give our attention to a problem we struggle with, we divert our attention away from God. Soon that problem becomes our God and we start worshiping it.
Many of us have lived years thinking we were in control and could manage perfectly well on our own. Even when everything was crashing down around us, we kept hold of the idea that we could make it work out for us. In essence the enemy whispers in one ear “You can take care of this”. And when our world comes crashing down around us he says in the other ear “See, you really are worthless”.
In recovery we have a very simple tool that defeats the enemy. That tool is admitting that we are powerless and that God has all power. With this simple tool we can allow God to be in charge and begin the process of restoration.
The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. Psalm 34:18
Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for sending your Son at just the right time. Your timing is always perfect. Help me to understand that I cannot do anything without you. I invite you into my life and surrender to your perfect will.
